We are a group of super passionate teachers who have a strong desire to help each child we have the opportunity to teach to bring to life the amazing, innovative, creative, and beautiful ideas that are within themselves, while learning and admiring the work of others before them and beside them.
We meet every Tuesday and Thursday in
Hogansville, GA 30230.
There are so many benefits to learning music including developing self-discipline, concentration, and listening skills. It also aids in brain development, specifically memory and organization. Music is also known to boost mood and create an atmosphere for healthy self expression, which is why music is often used as a form of therapy. Taking the time and effort to understand music from various cultures encourages us to appreciate and understand those unlike ourselves, and to connect with our world on a deeper level.
In music class, students will learn the fundamentals of music, including theory, aural skills, history, and performance skills. There are always at least two opportunities for students to perform, showcasing all they have learned and creating a wonderful evening of entertainment for their loved ones and themselves.
Art can be the key that unlocks appreciation for all the beauty our world has to offer and pave the way to a creative, independent thinker. Art is expression and feelings made in a way to be seen and understood, and is crucial in expanding the mind and developing intelligence.
At Hummingbirds Academy students will be immersed in art education. This includes art history, art techniques, art terminology, and usage of different art mediums. Parents will be able to see their student's artwork throughout the semesters with select pieces reserved to be seen at end of semester events.
Children have such amazing imaginations; Living History will help bring that imagination to life! In Living History students will bring history to life by incorporating historical tools, art, activities, food, and dress into interactive lessons that seek to give students a sense of stepping back in time.
Our world is full of strange and wonderful things!
In Hands on Science class, the children will be exploring, observing, problem solving, and critically thinking simple as well as complex ideas.
Energy, gravity, wind, water, electricity, radio waves and acids/bases are few topics we will explore during the year. All activities will be age appropriate, fun and extremely hands-on.
Our Spanish class will help students acquire the fundamentals of pronunciation and grammar, practical vocabulary, useful phrases and the ability to understand, read, write, and speak simple Spanish.
From cooking, banking, building, and everything in between math is used in everyday life. In Real World Math students will learn math that they will encounter at some point in their life in a fun and unique way.
The ultimate art hive buzzing with creativity, entrepreneurship, and giving back! In this hive, students team up to create masterpieces to sell, with all profits going to a local charity. They can even donate artwork to spread joy and love in the community. Together, they'll research different organizations, pick a cause, and learn the art of fundraising and cultural appreciation. It's all about using our talents to shine bright and spread love - art with a big, giving heart!
Creative LA is designed to help students in their creative expression. Students will learn the basic elements of writing including phonics, dialogue, setting, and plot. They will also work on using descriptive and figurative language. All while having some fun hands on lessons.
We believe in acknowledging God for every good thing, that art was designed by God for worship, and that we should seek to glorify Him in all we do and learn.
"For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together"- Colossians 1:16-17
Hi!
My name is Aerin, and I am the Co-Founder, Music teacher, and Thursday Picassos teacher of Hummingbirds Academy. I have a bachelor's in educational studies and completed classes in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance. I have a love for teaching piano and early music education and writing songs. I call myself a forever student, often learning the most exciting lessons from my own students. My husband and I have eight children, so our house is never dull! We love to travel, play with our ducks and chickens, make messes and jam out together. I look forward to creating music and memories with all you hummingbirds!
Hello, my name is Jade Blacquiere. I am the Art and Busy Bees teacher at Hummingbirds Academy. I grew up in a homeschooling family like many of the students here at Hummingbirds. My journey as an educator began with my own struggles with traditional schooling as a child.
Those challenges led me to become passionate about teaching other children who may learn best in a variety of ways outside the normal classroom structure. I believe in creating a learning environment where every child feels valued and supported. Through my experiences I’ve learned the importance of being patient, having empathy, and giving individualized support to each and every student. My goal as a teacher is to spread God's light to every student.
In my class, students will learn how to create art, get messy, and grow together. We will have lots of fun and messy times. With each stroke of the brush and every heartfelt conversation about God's love, I wish to inspire your children to embrace their uniqueness and strive for excellence in all they do.
